Bundt Cake: a tip from Grandma ...

My very hip grandmother, who knows how to use the computer, forwarded me this tip today.

"Getting a Cake to Come Out of a Bundt Pan Easily: First, lightly grease the inside and then sprinkle it with sugar instead of flour. The cake will slide out and not stick!"

One of the blogs I read frequently, Rocks in My Dryer , is hosting a "five ingredients or less" carnival today as part of her weekly " Works for Me Wednesday ". This recipe is one that always results in requests for my recipe - which is great because it is SOOO simple! ingredients: 1 8oz block cream cheese 1 cup ranch dressing hot sauce 2 cups shredded cheddar, divided 1 can chicken, drained Mix together cream cheese, ranch dressing and hot sauce (to taste). Mix in chicken and half of the cheddar cheese. Spread in an oven proof dish and top with remainder of cheddar cheese. (Sometimes I put blue cheese on top instead, but that would be six ingredients, so not this time!). Bake at 375 until bubbly - about 25 minutes. Serve with corn chips or celery sticks.

Works for Me: Cleaning Glass (coffee pots, pitchers, thermos)

My sister showed me a REALLY neat way to get the sticky condensed coffee residue off the bottom of a glass coffee pot, without any residual smell from harsher cleaning chemicals. Into the room temperature coffee pot, throw a tablespoon or two of salt and about a dozen ice cubes. Start swirling. As the salt melts the ice it will be very easy to swirly, but yet abrasive enough to get all those little bits off. It would also work for a glass pitcher or glass lined thermos. Works for me!

These are SOOOO good, and they make your house smell like a Cinnabon while they are baking. (Cinnabon is, I'm quite certain, a registered trademark. I am not claiming these are the Cinnabon recipe. But two different people told me they were better) In the bread machine, run these ingredients on the dough setting (the second time I made these, I actually set the dough cycle to run right before going to bed, and didn't die because there was milk in the recipe. On the other hand, we keep our house in the mid 50's overnight during the winter nights, so take that into consideration if you try it in the African heat): 1 cup warm milk 2 eggs, room temperature 1/3 cup butter, melted 4 1/2 cups bread flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup sugar 1 packed (2 1/2 tsp) yeast When finished, punch dough down and transfer to board: Very lightly flour, and roll/stretch out, then brush w/ 1/4 cup butter, melted (or spread if you thought ahead enough to have some very spreadable): Combine 1 cup brown ...
